Perth’s Coronavirus Lockdown: an update from Up-To-Date

An update from the Team

In light of Premier Mark McGowan’s press briefing yesterday, please be advised that our office will be closed to the public from today, Monday the 1st of February until Friday the 5th of February 2021, inclusive.

The Team and I will all be working from home and contactable by telephone or email as usual. Our focus will continue to be on completing December quarter Business Activity Statements, Income Tax Returns and financial statements, and preparing for the upcoming Fringe Benefits Tax end of financial year.

We know that lockdowns can have a negative impact on peoples’ mental health and wellbeing and so we encourage you to remain optimistic, use technology to its fullest capabilities to keep in touch with your loved ones, and focus on the things that you can control during this coming week, no matter how small.

We will get through this together, one day at a time.

Stay safe and our best wishes to you all,
Jody and the Team at Up-To-Date Accounting Services

Home Office Deductions

In recognition of the ongoing pandemic, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has extended its 80 cents per hour deduction for all home office running expenses, saving taxpayers the need to calculate costs for specific deductions. As a reminder, multiple people living in the same household can claim this rate. For example, a couple living together could each individually claim the 80 cents per hour rate regardless of the fact that they are using the same lighting, cooling and internet/telephone connections. The requirement to have a dedicated work from home area also remains waived.

For any questions or concerns you may have about the above, or anything else related to your specific circumstances, please don’t hesitate to contact us by phone on (08) 9221 4100 or via email at admin@up-to-date.com.au. We’re here for you.
